Age is all relative.
Even at 60 years old, Rep. Joe Courtney was described as a “young man” by Connecticut’s Department on Aging Commissioner Edith Prague, who is 87 herself.
On Where We Live, we asked Prague what advice she would give to new politicians. She spoke about the need for role models and she pointed to Courtney as someone who fits the bill.
“People have to be able to trust you and believe in you. When I say that, the person who comes to mind first for me is Joe Courtney. He’s the kind of young man you can believe in, you can trust. You know he says what he means and means what he says. He’s a perfect example for young people to emulate.”
Although Courtney is a role model in Prague’s eyes, she wasn’t so nice about the place he works. “I wouldn’t go to Washington if my life depended on it,” she said.
